Career in Care Assistance
Visit careers.ivhcare.co.uk to find out more about our culture, incentives and available roles. Join the team where passion and purpose meet.
Your Role
Care assistants help individuals with a diverse array of practical responsibilities, including personal administrative tasks, housekeeping, washing, and purchasing. Care assistants, on the other hand, assist customers with their unique care needs on a regular basis.
Personal care is the term used to describe the provision of intimate support, such as assisting an individual with bathing or clothing, using the lavatory, or preparing meals. It may also involve assisting an individual with medication or managing incontinence.
We are unafraid to acknowledge that self-care can be untidy. If you are uncertain about your ability to manage body secretions, nudity, and the associated disarray, you may not be well-suited for care work. However, it is important to remember that every care assistant is required to assist someone with changing a soiled diaper or wiping their behind at least once. We can assure you that this is a task that you will quickly become accustomed to.
Eventually, the majority of care attendants who work with the sickest patients must deal with those who are passing. When you arrive at their residence, you may even discover that a client has passed away. We acknowledge that this is a challenging situation at best and catastrophic at worst. However, as our employee, we will ensure that you are prepared to manage the demise of a client and that you receive the support you require to recover and move forward.
Clients who are in good health may continue to reside in their residences that are not conducive to their well-being. Despite the potential to assist individuals by tidying their residences, care assistants may encounter the challenge of working in unclean or filthy environments and their task is to upturn the situation.
A fulfilling employment
It is crucial that we acknowledge that providing care is occasionally dirty, distressing, and exhausting. However, it is also among the most fulfilling careers one can have.
One of the greatest opportunities you have as a care assistant is to make someone who may be alone, depressed, or in pain feel better. You may offer comfort to family carers who, despite their best efforts, are unable to spend all of their time with their loved ones. You may provide encouragement and hope, or just your companionship, some good vibes, and a cup of tea. You will also be able to sleep well at the very end of the day realising that your efforts have truly made a difference. That is a profession.
